Buy our own home
-

-
This is the dream that everybody dreams, we all want to own our own home, so that we can feel safe and proud, even if it is only a small place to start with.
In my previous post I just said that it is hard to buy a house, because their price goes up continually; however anybody that is serious enough and wants really to own a house have got to start somewhere.
Money this is the problem. Where do we find the money to buy a house?
Well you will never be able to buy a house if you do not have any money yourself.
So, if you have a job start saving some money, each time you get paid do not spend it all, just deposit whatever amount you can spare in a bank deposit, you will see that as the time goes by it will grow.
Ask some expert about how much money you need for a deposit before you get involved in buying your place. It is better to start with a small house, so that you may be able to afford repayments of your loan.
Every able person should try to buy their own house, it is worth the effort.
-
People often ask; should we rush and buy our own house now? before it becomes impossible to buy anything, because of price rise and the money interest rates still rising, what can we do?
-
My answer to that is; No, do not rush, buying a home is not that easy, just be preapared and work out what you can afford, then when your figures add up and you feel that you have a good chance to pay your loan, go ahead and buy it.
-
Just do not worry too much when the money market changes, it usually goes up and down, anyhow this is what was in the news;
-
TODAY
-
The Reserve Bank has followed up on its governor's warning to homeowners, by lifting official interest rates by 0.25 percentage points.

The move takes the official cash rate target to 4.25 per cent, and will move most major banks' standard variable mortgage rates above 7 per cent, provided they pass on the full increase.

RBA governor Glenn Stevens said while lenders had generally raised rates a little more than the cash rate, interest rates to most borrowers had been somewhat lower than average.

"The board judges that with growth likely to be around trend and inflation close to target over the coming year, it is appropriate for interest rates to be closer to average," Mr Stevens said in a statement.

Today I am going out of my usual way and post this post, which to some of you will seem to be a religious post, because it will talk about religious things; well to me this post hereunder is just another article of public interest, even though it is talking about the life of this nun Mary MacKillop; it is important to note that she was indeed a great spirit and did what she had to do, even tough she paid a high price for the just things that she did.
Anyhow let me just tell you what was reported in the web news:
-
Mary MacKillop
-
A new documentary about the life of Mary MacKillop claims she was excommunicated from the Catholic Church partly as revenge for helping to expose a South Australian pedophile priest.
The documentary for the ABC's Compass program claims sisters in MacKillop's Josephite order of nuns attracted the ire of a South Australian priest for telling authorities that a Father Keating, of Kapunda, was molesting children at the local church school.
The sisters reported the abuse to the vicar-general and disciplinary action was taken against Keating, humiliating him and angering a Father Charles Horan, who was close to the bishop of Adelaide, Bishop Shiel, Fairfax newspapers say.
Horan is believed to have harboured a grudge against MacKillop and the whistleblowers in her order, and used his influence over the bishop to manipulate him into throwing the nun out of the church in 1871. Bishop Shiel reversed the excommunication on his deathbed.
Father Paul Gardiner, a Jesuit priest and the chief postulator for MacKillop's sainthood, told the documentary makers that Bishop Shiel was "gaga" when he excommunicated the woman soon to become Australia's first saint. "She submitted to a farcical ceremony where the bishop was, I'm not sure you should use this word, gaga, but he had lost it and he was being manipulated by malicious priests," he said.
Keating was sent back to Ireland where he continued as a priest, the documentary says.
This is the first time the link between a pedophilia cover-up and MacKillop's excommunication has been exposed, Fairfax says.
The documentary airs on October 10, a week before MacKillop's canonisation in Rome.
(End of report)
-
Looking at the news these days one has to wonder why these pedophilia problems have not been addressed from the church? You see these pedophilia acts seem to have been there all the time. So the question arises, when is the Roman Catholic Church going to do something about it? Perhaps let the priest get married, so that they may satisfy their sex drive the normal ways?

Oceans on brink of mass extinction: study
Friday, 3 September 2010 Stephen Pincock
ABC

The study warns human activities are threatening to trigger a mass extinction event in our oceans (Source: Naomi Brookfield, file photo/User submitted)
Climate change, over-fishing and other human impacts have pushed the oceans to the brink of a mass extinction that could take tens of millions of years to recover from, an Australian scientist says.
Dr John Alroy from Macquarie University in Sydney has used the fossil record of the ocean, dating back more than 500 million years, to study how major changes in marine animal groups take place.
His work is published today in the journal Science.
In the course of the past 540 million years, marine animals have undergone several mass extinctions that saw dominant life forms suddenly replaced by others, he says.
For example, about 250 million years ago, species of animals known as lamp shells, which had dominated sea-beds, were suddenly replaced by clams and snails.
"The lamp shells were all over the place and diverse for a quarter of a billion years, then the biggest mass extinction in the history of life on earth happened - the Permian-Triassic extinction - and they went from being all over the place, to being rare and not very diverse."
Resetting the rules
Until recently, scientists had thought these extinction events were governed by the slow unwinding of predictable evolutionary "rules" that operated over hundreds of millions of years, says Alroy.
"What my paper shows is that that story is fundamentally wrong, in that it doesn't take into account the way a big evolutionary innovation or mass extinction can overturn the rules."
"The change in the balance of groups is not random. It's not that some groups have good luck and some have bad luck. There has actually been a resetting of the rules of evolution."
New order
Human activities such as over-fishing, the acidification of the oceans and the introduction of imported species are threatening to trigger another such event, Alroy warns.
"It's not just a mass extinction, but a massive reshuffling of species across the globe. We're simultaneously ruining the environment and selectively wiping out certain groups."
This combination of stresses threatens to leave ocean biodiversity devastated, he says. "Things are so bad right now in so many different ways it's very hard to imagine that you wouldn't have a big long-term overturn in the balance of groups."
The fossil record shows that the consequences of this kind of mass extinction can last for many millions of years.
"It will take tens of millions of years before there is a full recovery with respect to the number of species in the ocean and the balance of groups," Alroy says. "It will establish a new order that will persist for a very long time."

Combat climate misinformation

Election time in Australia, so it is time to let the politician know what needs to be done.

Report aims to combat climate 'misinformation'
By environment reporter Sarah Clarke

The statement says global emissions must peak within a decade and decline rapidly if dangerous climate change is to be avoided. (Reuters: Ilya Naymushin)
• Audio: Scientists unite in fresh warming warning (PM)
Some of the nation's top scientists have united in a new climate statement which issues fresh warnings about the dangers of global warming.
The statement released by the Australian Academy of Science is a first for the organisation and details the key evidence identified globally by climate scientists.
It says carbon emissions need to be cut by more than half by 2050 if there is to be a good chance of keeping temperature rises to less than two degrees.
It also says global emissions must peak within a decade and decline rapidly if dangerous climate change is to be avoided.
Kurt Lambeck from the Australian National University says current misinformation is confusing the public debate and the warnings need to be identified.
"It's because we've been concerned about the nature of the climate change debate in recent times," he said.
"We see the quality of the science improving with time but the debate seems to be degenerating in some ways."
Professor Lambeck says one of the reasons behind the degeneration is that the science is very complex.
"Climate science is really at the sort of intersection of a whole lot of basic science areas," he said.
"Now a lot of people understand elements of those basic sciences but they don't understand the complexities that occur when you try to put it all together.
"People get confused over those minor, what are essentially secondary issues and in that process the whole level of the debate degenerates."
Professor Lambeck says the complexity of the issue may be one reason both sides of politics seem to have shelved the issue of climate change.
"I suspect both sides find it hard to understand what they should be doing," he said.
"Some time ago the major parties both recognised that climate change was a real threat and that, you know, action needed to be taken.
"But we've lost that consensus between the two parties."
'Severe' impact
Professor Lambeck says the statement looks at global temperatures, which he says have increased by "about a degree" over the last century.
"A degree doesn't sound like very much but it appears that its impact on regional climate can be quite severe," he said.
"Now when I say one degree, that is the global average surface temperatures.
"There are parts of the globe that have been subjected to much larger changes in more recent times.
"Whether that's part of a long term trend or whether that's part of some of the natural variability or whether these are oscillations, that's something that we don't know yet because our records are too short."
Scientific questions
The statement makes the point that no scientific conclusion can ever be absolutely certain.
But Professor Lambeck does not think that leaves the conclusions open to sceptics and critics.
"The underpinning parts - the fact that CO2 is increasing, the fact that CO2 increases results in global temperature rises, the fact the CO2 has a long residence time in the atmosphere - these are facts that are extremely unlikely will ever be overturned by new information," he said.
"Where the scientific questions arise is in the feedbacks that occur between the various components.
"We're not totally clear on that and we may not have the right way to put that into our forecast.
"But these are factors that will affect the rate at which things will change.
"They're extremely unlikely to affect the change in direction of what we are observing."
The Greens say the report shows the major parties need to do more to deal with the threat.
Greens Senator Christine Milne says the big parties are acting as if climate change is not real.
"Both parties are trying to ignore climate change and this is big turnaround from 2007 when the Labor Party told Australians that it was a great moral imperative and they would act on it," she said.
"Part of the reason for that is the sceptics campaign that has been aided and abetted by Tony Abbott and the Coalition."
So now that the know people have spoken out will the politicians do anything better?

This report seem good news for old people

Sometime we need to look for good news, because it gives us hope for the future, as we all know nobody knows what is going to happen in the future, so it is good for us to hope, and for those who believe in God, it would be good if they hope and pray for a better future.
.
In the news I found this report;
.
A TREATMENT to halt Alzheimer's disease could be just five years away after a breakthrough by University of Sydney researchers.
The researchers claim they have isolated the cause of the brain-wasting disease in the interaction between two proteins in an otherwise healthy brain cell.
The university team managed to stop the interaction happening in mice genetically engineered to develop the disease by injecting a special protein into their brain using special implants.
"We have shown we can prevent the development of Alzheimer's, and that's never been done before," Professor Jurgen Gotz, of the university's Brain and Mind Research Institute, said.
"If we can prevent it developing, then there is hope we can find a cure."
None of the mice who were treated died, suffered memory loss or had seizures.
The breakthrough results - published in the international scientific journal Cell - offer hope to the 260,000 Australian Alzheimer's sufferers and their families.
Professor Gotz said the breakthrough was significant because it was the first time the development of the disease had been mapped. The protein was given to mice using implant pumps, he said.
Researchers are now working with pharmaceutical companies to further develop ways of administering the treatment for humans.
"What we have done in the laboratory has been extremely successful," Professor Gotz said. "The next step is to develop compounds that are easier to administer, either orally or intravenously.
"We could have treatment in five years because this is targeting the underlying biology of the disease, not the symptoms."
Without a cure, Professor Gotz said, families of Alzheimer sufferers, including his own, would continue to experience heartbreak.
"It's devastating to see how the personality is completely destroyed," he said.
The reasons why those who are susceptible to the disease contract it are still not known, Professor Gotz said, but it is believed some cases are linked to genetic factors.
Alzheimer's Australia NSW chief executive John Watkins said the group was guardedly optimistic about the findings, with the research having so far having been successful in mice.
"Although the research is in its early stages, it is the type of research that needs to be done so that we can find the cause, and hopefully the cure, to this terrible disease," he said.
Christine Fegan, of Mosman in Sydney's north shore, said her husband, Barry, 71, discovered he had Alzheimer's when he was 65.

She said any advance in treatment was wonderful news for families who had suffered as a result of a family member developing the condition.
"Obviously, it's going to take a long time until it's available to humans, but it would just be wonderful if Alzheimer's patients could recover some of their lives," Mrs Fegan said.
Her husband had begun showing symptoms when he was 60, but had been in denial.
"When his memory was failing, and he was making errors all the time, he just made our lives unbearable."

TO SAVE PLANET EARTH AND SO SAVE OURSELVES IS THE DUTY OF EVERYBODY ON EARTH, SO YOU ARE INVITED TO DO YOUR PART.

In the news today:
This article written below was in the news; I have to say that there was another article, which reported that humanity may be extinct in about 100 years.

So, what have we done to deserve that?
Can anything be done to return to normal?
If you have any ideas email us, we would like to know?

This is what was in the news today,

Could unbridled climate changes lead to human extinction?

2010-06-19 17:50:00

Scientists have sounded alarm bells about how growing concentrations of greenhouse gases are driving irreversible and dramatic changes in the way the oceans function, providing evidence that humankind could well be on the way to the next great extinction.
The findings of the comprehensive report: 'The impact of climate change on the world's marine ecosystems' emerged from a synthesis of recent research on the world's oceans, carried out by two of the world's leading marine scientists.
One of the authors of the report is Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, professor at The University of Queensland and the director of its Global Change Institute (GCI).
'We may see sudden, unexpected changes that have serious ramifications for the overall well-being of humans, including the capacity of the planet to support people. This is further evidence that we are well on the way to the next great extinction event,' says Hoegh-Guldberg.
'The findings have enormous implications for mankind, particularly if the trend continues. The earth's ocean, which produces half of the oxygen we breathe and absorbs 30 percent of human-generated carbon dioxide, is equivalent to its heart and lungs. This study shows worrying signs of ill-health. It's as if the earth has been smoking two packs of cigarettes a day!,' he added.
'We are entering a period in which the ocean services upon which humanity depends are undergoing massive change and in some cases beginning to fail', he added.
The 'fundamental and comprehensive' changes to marine life identified in the report include rapidly warming and acidifying oceans, changes in water circulation and expansion of dead zones within the ocean depths.
These are driving major changes in marine ecosystems: less abundant coral reefs, sea grasses and mangroves (important fish nurseries); fewer, smaller fish; a breakdown in food chains; changes in the distribution of marine life; and more frequent diseases and pests among marine organisms.
Study co-author John F. Bruno, associate professor in marine science at The University of North Carolina, says greenhouse gas emissions are modifying many physical and geochemical aspects of the planet's oceans, in ways 'unprecedented in nearly a million years'.
'This is causing fundamental and comprehensive changes to the way marine ecosystems function,' Bruno warned, according to a GCI release.

These findings were published in Science.

TODAY

"Today's decision is a further step in that process."

Mr Stevens said credit for housing had been expanding at a solid pace.

"New loan approvals for housing have moderated over recent months as interest rates have risen and the impact of large grants to first-home buyers has tailed off," he said.

"Nonetheless, at this point the market for established dwellings is still characterised by considerable buoyancy, with prices continuing to increase in the early part of 2010."

The 25-basis point rise in interest rates, if passed on in full by the banks, will add about $48 a month to a $300,000 mortgage on a 25-year term.

The National Australia Bank had already committed, before the Reserve Bank's meeting, to raising its standard variable mortgage rate by no more than the Reserve Bank's change.

If it passes on the full Reserve Bank increase, its standard variable mortgage rate will rise from 6.74 to 6.99 per cent per annum.

The question today is, how many of us have already missed out, and therefore may never be able to afford to own a home?
